Hi. I was wondering if I could get some advice. I am very confused right now. I met
my fiance online almost a year ago. We have never met in person but we definately
love each other and want to get married. I am going to visit him in February. We
have talked about the possiblity of getting married when I come in February. I have
read that in order to get a spousal visa, u have to have met in person two years
prior to getting married. Is this true?? If we got married in February would it ruin
his chances of getting a visa to come to the USA? I will have known him only 16
months by FEBRUARY.
Please help...THANKS

I believe it's having met in person within the last two years. There's no time frame
of how long you have to know someone before you marry. Sounds like you should be
fine. Depending on where he is from, you may have the often faster option of going
the DCF route after marriage.

In order to get a fiance visa, you must have been together at some point in the last
2 years. You could have first met 10 years ago, or yesterday.
In order to get a spouse visa, there is no time factor involved. If you are married,
you can apply.
