A comment on the timing. It all seems to proceed somewhat faster than at least I had expected so you want to submit the application when you know you'll be around for the various appointments.
I submitted my N-400 on Jan 14, 2015. The I-797C request to turn up for a biometrics appointment came weeks early than I'd expected. The form was dated Jan 31, 2015 barely 2 weeks after my application. Unfortunately I was in New Zealand from Feb 2 and arrived back today to find my biometrics appointment was the previous day. So they don't give you much notice for each step. So now I have to post back the form and request and wait for another biometrics appointment.
My advice is only submit the N-400 when you know you'll be around for the process and expect things to happen fast.

I should have checked here first! I might have closed off that option by rather efficiently posting the original form back right away. I suspect the Application Support center will insist on the original rather than a copy. Although it might be worth a shot...
