Default Citizenship advice

I came to the United States four years ago after marrying an American
citizen. I received a 2 years conditional green card the same year I
arrived (2001). After following with all the immigration procedures I
was granted the permanent resident card (March 2005). I then applied
for the citizenship. One month after applying my 4 year marriage ended
in divorce. I passed the citizenship test (march 2006). However, when
the officer asked during the interview if I was still married, I said
stupidity yes. The officer asked me if we had filed a joint income
return. I told him that for 2004 me and my husband filed separate tax
returns because we where both going to college and wanted to get
financial aid (which is true). The officer was happy with all my
paperwork and only requested a letter from the IRS confirming a joint
income tax return for the year 2005 which I don't have as we are
divorced.

I was given a letter which states the following:
"
Continuance
Examination of your N400 application shows that additional information,
documents or forms are needed before your application can be acted
upon. Please return this letter with the requested information and or
documents by April 12, 2006.

Failure to do so may result in the denial of your application
Submission of this information, however, does not guarantee that this
case will be approved, We strongly recommend that you submit all the
requested information, documents, or forms as listen on the following
pages as soon as possible so that we can resume processing. Any interim
benefits that may be otherwise stem from the filing of this application
or petition will be delayed while this case is in suspense awaiting for
your response.
If you choose to submit only some or none of the requested information,
then the application will be adjudicated on its merits. You may also
request, in writing, to the service that this application be withdrawn.
If the district director consents to the withdrawal, the application
will be denied without further notice to you an without prejudice to
any future application, The withdrawal will constitute a waiver of any
review pursuant to Section 336 of the Title 8 code of Federal
Regulations. If the district director does not consent does not consent
to the withdrawal, then the application shall be adjudicated on its
merits."

What should I do?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Consult with a good immigration lawyer.
