Default chances of getting a B1 visa?

I am from a visa waiver country. I went to US for 90 days in april
2007. Then I left for 90 days. Then I came back for 90 days. Now I want
to go for 6 months. Can someone advice me as to what is the possibility
of recieving a B1 visa. It's only been 1 week since i've returned to my
country of origin.
I am planning on starting a masters program in 8 months in a university
in my home country, but i haven't applied yet. I will with friends in
USA.
If I say that i'm taking time off work and college and i'd like to
explore america some more, do you think i'd have a chance at getting a
B1 visa. This is the truth actaully.
Any other advice??

I have heard it's difficult to get a B visa when you are eligible to use the VWP.

Based on the current circumstances, it sounds like your chances of getting a B aren't great, and as other people on the board would confirm, having a visa denial on your record is a real pain, as it means forever declaring it on future trips. Is it possible you could firm up your college admission for Sept 07? That would surely help, as would having more specific reasons for wanting to stay longer than 90 days...

Hi:

You've got me puzzled. You want to come to the United States to conduct business, but you ask about taking time off from work?

Please clarify.
