How long time did it take to get your greencard. I have been here 52 days and it has not arrived yet.

Done my driving test yesterday and passed, but it was not four right turns and park. I got the full test.

Still have not got the green card, what should I do? I would appreciate some help.

Carlisle,

Since your green card arrival questions were in a thread about the social security card, I moved your question to a thread of its own.

If I recall correctly, you've been in the USA around 60 days, is that right? You arrived on an Immigrant Visa, correct? So you have the 1-year I-551 in your passport to tide you over, even if it takes a year to get your plastic green card in hand.

Still hasn't come and probably won't for a while because of the Shutdown. Been here 70 days.

Maybe I will get a rebate due to late delivery haha

That's been a long time - wife and I were only musing last night that were glad my SSN came when it did. Are you having problems without it?

No not really, but I don't like having my passport with me all the time.

Yeah I must admit just carrying the wallet is somewhat easier.

For what it's worth, you don't actually need to carry your passport. Not having proof on your person is technically a $100 fine offence - however this fine can only be applied if found to be without proof by a federal officer. It cannot be imposed by, for example, a county sheriff.

Photocopy your passport's photo page and signature page and carry that with you. Don't carry the passport with you!

Thanks guys, photocopy is the answer. My new passport is all bent due to being in my hip pocket all the time.
