Can you renew a B2 visa which is expiring but not expired yet?
 

Hi All,

Can we renew a B2 visa which is expiring in 6 months, but has not expired yet?

There are some circumstances which makes it convenient for us to renew the visa now, if the system allows it.

Applicant is out of USA.

I believe you can apply for a new B-2 before the current one expires, yes.

Thanks Rene, do you know the earliest period when we can apply? is it 6 months or 1 year?

Going by comments made by a CO in London,it does not matter how much life is left on the existing B2,they just mark the old one "cancelled without prejudice" and issue the new one.However,that was a casual comment and not sure if it is official policy.
