Question Can I maintain PR status while working in Canada?

Hi. My wife and I have PR status, but my job in the US is about to end. I have an offer of a short-term position in Canada (including a work permit). I'm wondering about traveling to the job on weekdays whilst returning to our permanent home in the US at weekends - however I'm unclear whether this would necessarily impact my residency status. Has anyone experienced this?

It should be fine. You are maintaining your home in the US. Your wife will still be living there. Your bank accounts will be there, etc. Bear in mind that the monetary rate of exchange sucks.

Thanks for the reply Rete ... and yup we're up over 1.35 this morning. Nine years ago USD and CAD were at parity.

My husband is Canadian living in the US and his pension is worth so little when it is converted that he just leaves it in Canada.

+1
also keep an eye on the total time out of the USA. No more than 30 months out of the previous 5 years.
