Default Buying a business - green card

We have some friends in England, husband wife and 2 kids, who want to buy a business and immigrate to the US.

They will have an initial investment of about $250,000 to buy an existing business, and a futher $250 - $300,000 to invest when they arrive in the US.

Do you think this would be enough to get a green card, or would they have to go for an E2 visa, initially and then apply for a green card later??

Thanks for your help

Simon

On behalf of Ray, read all about it here:

Enough for an E2 probably, but an E2 is a non immigrant Visa, no GC.

And the children cannot stay past the age of 21 on the parents E-2
and the no GC possibility are the 2 problems with the E-2 ...

But one advantage is only one partner has to get the E-2
the other partner can get an EAD and work anywhere.

Thanks Ray for your answer, I didn't realise that a spouse could get an ead and work anyone.

That must make the E2 visa more workable for a lot of people
