Hi, I brought my 1997 Grand Am to Canada three years ago when I went
there on a temp work visa. I am not moving back to the US and was
wondering what steps I should take to bring it back to the US. The web
site sounded complicated and does not refer to cases like mine. I hope
someone could show me what I should do in plain language.
Thanks very much!

If you are not moving back to the US, why are you asking this question?

Sorry for the typo.
"I am NOT moving back" should be "I am NOW movig back".
"I am NOT moving back" should be "I am NOW movig back".

Was your modified for importation into Canada when you moved to Canada to work?
Normally all you need to bring the car to the US is a letter of compliance from the manufacturer that the vehicle conforms to the safety guidelines (DOT) for a vehicle of that year's manufacture. Since you bought the car in the US the car should still conform to US specs, other than the daytime running lights which are not required in the US.
Do you have your original bill of sale on the car?
