Default Best way to employ US citizen from UK?

Hello all,
I thought I would write in (again) with another question.
We are applying next year for a new office L1, but need to employ our friend probably part time, who lives in america and is a US citizen. We dont plan to move to the states until around april next year. But the problem is we need someone working there now to get things going etc etc before we move out there. We have incorporated a us company and everything. But as mentioned really need somebody working there sooner than April doing bits and pieces, but it cannot be us!
because a) we have no visa
and b) we simply cannot go to the states yet!
So my longer than planned drawn out question is, how do I employ my US citizen friend from the UK whilst still living in UK.

You say, "Do you want a job?" He says, "Yes." Voila, he's employed. Where you live is irrelevant as long as you pay him and duly withhold the required taxes and stuff which you'll need to submit to the IRS. Alternately, you can pay him with no deductions (as you might a contractor), and have him pay taxes and stuff directly.

You may get better answers if your question is relocated to another area of the forum. The question isn't US immigration or visa related as it deals with employment of a US citizen in the US.

Good luck.

Hi:

The tax questions on the federal end of things can be found at http://irs.gov. There may also be state and local requirements also. If you don't make those withholding payments, there will be hell to pay -- much more than messing up on the taxes.
