Only if he is exceptional and qualifies for the EB-1B category (Outstanding Professor Or Researcher). I know an academic who managed this - he is not Fields Medal level, but definitely a cut or five above the rest. It is extremely unlikely your husband would qualify if he is straight out of his Ph.D.

For the record, this avenue would probably be even more expensive. You'd be liable for ALL the filing fees AND the lawyer fees (which would be higher, since they'd need to put together your case for being outstanding).
