When I travel to the US I normally go on the Visa Waiver scheme. I would
dearly love to retire to the US, but friends of mine who have property
in Florida end up having to go for 3 months at a time on Visa Waiver.
Whilst delving through the US Immigration site (OK, I couldn't sleep...)
I came across a paragraph on a B2 passport which looks like it's for
vacation use but is extendable in six month chunks "at the discretion of
the US Immigration Services providing the individual is not seeking work
in the US"
Has anyone ever tried this?
Thanks folks

Hundreds maybe thousands of Brits stay in Florida for 6 months every year by way of B-2.

If your country participates in the visa waiver program, it is nearly
impossible to get a B2 visa. You would have to demonstrate to the US
consulate that you need to stay for more then the 90 days allowed with the waiver.
