Default B1/B2 visa

Hi ESTA denied having to apply for above visa. Could anyone please tell me how long to wait for interview and how long after interview, if successful, does it take to arrive. Basically, the whole process? Thank you

Welcome to BE.

Why was it refused? Criminal record/CIMT? If so, the actual visa bit won't take long, but assuming you are recommended for a waiver, that can take a few months. You can see recent timelines on this thread - Nonimmigrant Visa Waiver of Ineligibility Application

HTH.

Any idea why the ESTA was refused? The exact circumstances of your case will determine the timescale and eventual outcome.

As others have stated, depends on your specific circumstances if you even have a shot at getting a B2 or not.

Many thanks for replies.
No idea why refused. No criminal record, no medical issues.
Filled ESTA form in incorrectly or someone has my wife’s identity? Either way ESTA TRIP program has done nothing and all I can see to do is apply for B1/2 Visa which I have done today

So question remains please: providing there are no issues, are we talking days or weeks for Visa request to be granted/not granted? Thanks again

What does that mean? Did you fill it in incorrectly or not?

It is also possible that the name you submitted in requesting ESTA is on a security screening list, aka "no-fly list", this happens from time to time, most commonly, but not always, with Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian names.

If you are approved at interview, and they keep your passport, you are likely to receive the visa 10-14 days afterwards,

I would caution though that if it was indeed filed in incorrectly, and you are otherwise eligible, you might get a B2 denial. If it was denied for a name match, then expect to get put into Administrative Processing, and that takes as long as it takes - even if it's months and months.

A year or more has been known, and I hear that a few go into AP and never proceed from there.

You had an abnormal ESTA so following with a normal B seems somewhat unlikely, but a week to 10 days.

Is it you or your wife who was refused?

I was in a similar situation, my ESTA was approved then denied sometime afterwards without notification. I was turned away from the airport. Not fun. Had an I-130 in process but no criminal history, etc. Applied subsequently for a B2 but was refused, as predicted by the members here who really helped to mentally prepare me for another disappointment. I'm writing this to hopefully help you prepare for the same if your case ends up in a similar scenario. Good luck.

Still waiting for NOA2! My husband came to London to visit instead at the time, and planning another visit soon, since I'm essentially blacklisted until I get my CR-1.

take about 4 months for the decision... or in my case a week to get refused
