My Australian wife is about to begin the process of obtaining permanent residence in
America. We are living in Brisbane now. Specifically what shots does she have to
get? Also, do we have to find an INS-approved doctor to do the exam, or is any
doctor fine?
Thanks heaps, Andrew

She will have to have INS docor for the exam, but can get the shots before she goes
for the exam, in order to save money. See these URLs for medical exam info, including
doctor list: http://www2.apex.net/users/thehydes/forms/medex1.pdf

Hi Andrew,
The Doc in Brisbane is Dr. Hickey on Wickham Terrace - when you get the info from the
Embassy, the contact info will be in there. She should go to her local GP a few days
before her medical to get the vaccinations - MMR and DTP. She will need a letter from
her GP stating they were given which she will take to Dr. Hickey's office. At Wickham
Terrace, she will get her X-ray, blood tests and general exam done and the results
will be mailed back in a sealed envelope within a few days. That envelope is then
taken to the interview in Sydney when you are ready.
That's about it. Plan to spend about an hour & 1/2 and realise parking is a problem
up in Spring Hill. Might want to consider public transport.
