Default ASC Codes??

Can someone please tell me where I can look to find the meanings of the ASC codes that are put on the NOA's??

Example being my friends have recieved their first NOA's for their I-130, I-485 & I-765.

The I-130 has ASC Code 2 on it & the I-485 has ASC Code 3 on it.

Any infor pointing me in the right direction will be much appreciated.

Regards
Cindy

I found this little blurb on google:
"ASC code 3 refers to the I-485 form and code 2 refers to the EAD."

I believe it's kind of an internal code they use to determine what type of biometrics to do at the ASC.

Best Wishes,
Rene

That makes sense to me. I know it was on mine too but never gave it any thought until I was asked what it meant. Im sure that will more that satisfy them.

A couple of years ago, when we could schedule our own biometrics appointments, I remember having both the I-765 NOA and the I-485 NOA in hand when I called. The lady asked for the ASC codes, and said something like that helps them determined which one to do first, something like that. But now USCIS schedules it for you, so ... I hope that little explaination satisfies their curiosity.

ASC code 2 refers to an appointment for capturing photograph and
signature only. And, I believe, index fingerprint. The things that
are required to make an ID card such as the EAD and the Green Card.
Thus it applies to I-765 and I-485 for people under age 14 or over age
79.

I believe, but am less certain, that ASC code 1 refers to an
appointment for capturing the set of 10 fingerprints (and photo also?)
that is sent to the FBI for background checking. Thus it applies to
I-485 for people aged 14 to 79.

I believe that ASC code 3 refers to an appointment for both code 1 and
code 2 purposes.

My wife's appointment was code 3, my 3 year-old stepson's appointment
was code 2.

Thanks Jeff
That clears it all up really well. Thanks for such a wonderful description of what they all mean. Every little bit of information helps.
