Default Already have SS# from a previous H1B

Hi there...

Well, we're approaching day 91 in the EAD process, so we'll be going down to Albuquerque Oct. 26 to see if David can get an interim EAD.

David has a social security number (and card) that he got when he was here on an H1B a few years ago. We were wondering:
I know he keeps the same SS#, but is the card still valid or does he need a new one?
If so, how does he get a new card without being issued a new number?
do we need to tell the SS administration that he'll be using that number or once the USCIS puts his information in the SAVE system is he able to work?
or maybe he can work on that SS# before his information is in SAVE?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Don't know if he needs a new card or not, shouldnt' do, will end up with the same number, just needs to provide the EAD stamp to show work authorised.
Though might be worth going to the SSA to get a new card

Does not need a new card; does not need to inform SSA of anything. All he needs is his EAD. In fact he should have been putting that SSN down on all the applications/petitions where asked.

Thanks Rete, thanks Folinsky!

Yep, we've put his SS# on all the forms so far...

Much relieved!
