Ok I have heard diffrent things, I'm in NorthWestern Florida. Would it be benifical
for me to drive the 4-6 hours and personally drop off the Parole/AOS paperwork? Is
there any benifits to this? One person told me you can get it approved same day. I'm
sure that isn't true. I was told that it would take a couple year for approval of
AOS. HOPE this isn't true. Thanks to everyone who has answered our questions these
last few days. It is helping us alot!

That will depend if you are a K-1. There are INS offices around the States that are
doing same day AOS for K-1's. As for if personally dropping it off is better will
also depend if your office allows that. Our (which is Helena, MT) did not and only
accepted mailed in applications.

I am positive that those with the info at their finger tips will tell you if Florida
is one of the places that does same day AOS (my brain says it doesn't but I haven't
fully trusted my brain in a very long time).

In Tampa it doesn't. We took papers in; Tampa is a substation and you could walk
in....(stand in line and wait is more like it!) EAD and Advanced Parole were ready
about 3 weeks later. Paul picked them up yesterday. In fact they actually lost part
of the paperwork, including his photos, so they had him go take some more at a place
right next door, fill out the form they needed for the advanced parole and had it
done within the hour. We had to pay the extra $8 for the new photos but they
graciously did not charge us any additional fees for the new forms.... Other then
that very small hiccup, the process has been very smooth.

Now awaiting the interview date down the road........

You will be using Jacksonville? If so do not waste a trip over there, they only
accept filing by mail. We did once...

Can you go to another INS office in your state to file adjustment of status or must
you go to the local INS of your residence? I live in Houston but would like to go
the Dallas INS office where I have heard that they do same-day AOS for K-1's. Is
this possible?

Sorry but you have to go to the one that has jurisdiction over where you
live. The INS web site has a page where you can find out exactly which one does.
