Additional Administrative Processing Time
 

Hi all,

I've had a look around the forum to see if there was any answer to this query but could'nt find an exact answer, so i was wondering is anybody knew/ or personally know from experience the additional administrative processing time for a B2 visa from the Embassy in London.

If possible the time it takes from the initial interview date, seeing the panel physician the following day and the time it takes to get a acceptance or refusal notification.

The reason for the extra time is for drink driving offence (the sentence for which was a 12 month ban and a fine. No other offences)

The Consular Affairs Nonimmigrant Visa FAQs suggests to allow at least 60 days, but i was hoping somebody would confirm that they were informed sooner.

I don't know if you have read my thread about my husbands dui. However, he was one of the first to go thru' this and the London lawyer believes it was delayed as they weren't quite sure of the process:

- The contact details for the Embassy's Doctor took 2.5 weeks to come thru'. He was able to make an appointment for the following week. The physician said it was the first one he had done.

- and then about 5 weeks for the decision.

Apparently, you only have to go for the medical if your DUI was in the last 3 calendar years.

This is fairly new. Please note the other poster as her husband has gone through this.

From what I know, this a medical determination made the Embassy designated civil surgeon. You may want to research the guidelines and see about getting some "forensic" medical or psychiatric reports.

It appears the process has slightly changed from what I have gathered through reading posts on this forum.
You are now given the telephone number of the physician on the day of the interview and asked to make an appointment as soon as possible. In my case I managed to get one on the following day.
The results of the test take about week to return and are sent to the embassy.
Now its just waiting for a response from them, which I am hoping will not take as long as 5 weeks for the 60 days as suggested.

It would be interesting to know what other peoples experiences have been and time scales.

Also, as this is quite new, does anybody know when this additional process began? I am guessing it was at some point this year?

When I was referred to a panel physician in March of this year, also in relation to a B1/B2 visa application in London, the embassy got back with a decision within a couple of weeks of the appointment. Nothing like the “couple of months” I was initially advised by a member of the embassy staff.

I too was assessed due to a drink related offence (amongst other things), but not drinking and driving, whether this makes any difference?
