30 days rule and the I-94!
 

Hi All,

I was wondering if any one could comment on the following issues:

1- Is the 30 days rule still valid? it stipulates that an individual
who has an expired F1 or H1 visa can still go to canada and re-enter
the US using the I-94 under the condition that he doesn't apply for a
US visa while in Canada and he doesn't stay more than 30 days?. Also
under the condition that you are not from one of the seven countries
that promotes terrorism.( Iran, Iraq, sudan, Cuba,Syria, North corea
and Lybia).

2- Is this rule still valid even if you use a land public
transportation such as a bus ( not a flight).

3- Do u have to use a private or rented car so that this rule is valid?

I appreciate any comments.

Yes.

Could you please elaborate on how can I go to Canada by BUS and what
should I do step by step?

First, go to the Greyhound bus station local to your area. Second, approach the ticket booth and purchase a ticket. Third, when instructed to do so, board the bus. Fourth, remain seated while the bus is moving. Fifth, at the border, present your *unexpired* I-94 attached to your *unexpired* passport. Sixth, enter Canada *if* they let you in (they are not required to do so). To return to the US, do this over again.

Thank you very much on your explanations. I appreciate your time.

I have some additional infos. The passeport that had the F1 visa
expired and I have a new valid passeport. So is it ok to present the
two passeports ( the expired one with the expired F1 visa, and the new
passeport with the Canadian landing visa?).

Do you know anybody that has done this before?

Also I entered the US with an F1 visa in 2001 and then changed my
status lately to an H1 status. Do I still can do the 30 days rule?
