Default 132Jennifer's questions on visa and criminal background

what if you committed a felony and the visa application is for your spouse and not you.

Do you say what the felony is and hope they let you in and not fire your husband?

Who is the US citizen? Who is the UK citizen? If you want good information, you need to give good information. We're very good at what we do... but we aren't mind readers.

Who is who?

No. Anyone who can read and pay attention can understand immigration... felony conviction or not.

Ah... so now you start to give out tidbits of information. Short answer: That depends. Long answer: That depends on what was the felony conviction for and what the penalty was. If your ultimate goal is for him to move to the UK to live/work... you're in the wrong forum. This forum deals will people coming to the US. You want http://www.uk-yankee.com/... which is for people coming to the UK to live/work.

Then it seems like the one who did't have a felony (the spouse), might be OK getting a visa. The one who committed a felony might have problems.

Do you say what the felony is and hope they let you in and not fire your husband?
If you (the one who has the felony) needs a visa, you have to declare the arrest.

Why would "they" fire your husband? What does that have to do with your own felony?

Sometimes, maybe. It depends what it was for, or if there's a waiver involved.

Are you trying to move from the UK to the USA, or the USA to the UK? This post sounds like you're asking about a USC who wants to get a visa to the UK. If that's the case, go to the site Ian mentioned. This one is for those who want a visa to come to the USA.

No. But it might be a very good idea since lawyers are trained to provide better explanations, relevant to the applicable laws, than the average person.
