Hi there
Its really nice that you have settled in so well and are loving it in Canberra. I have a question for you, I have parents here and they want to take a trip down probably by train. What would reccomend are must sees, places to stay and things to do and maybe a few places to eat. Thanks xx michele |

Re: We are LOVING Australia!!!!
This one has got me. Can someone enlighten me as to why NZ is so 3rd world? I can only guess it is the same old same old complaints about Australia, but worse, or really warranted...(!)

Imagine living in Australia, with wages half of what they are, costs slightly higher than they are. Imagine Australia having less or no public transport. Imagine Australia having weather worse than England. You are imagining New Zealand...... But its all good, because you've got the "lifestyle", ;-) It's a great place to go for a holiday, but then so is Peru, or Kenya.... Buzzy |

Buzzy Buzzy, we have both experienced NZ, and coming to OZ after NZ is like stepping back into the 21st century again. Its pure bliss.:D:D Badge...would you like to take up a job there and see for yourself?:rofl: Caution: Take HEAPS of money coz your wages sure as hell wont cover basic living expenses. Buzzy...its sooooooooo nice to see a almost perfect public transport system in place. Trains, bus, road network, just excellent. Can't fault any of it. I just LOVE this place. |
Re: We are LOVING Australia!!!!
Badge, I'll add a bit more to Buzzy's post.
Imagine waking up in winter and thinking the pipes have burst because the carpets are so cold, they feel wet.:( Imagine opening the curtains and each winter morning and having to wipe all the wetness off the windows, watching the mould multiply on your curtains. Imagine freezing inside so much knowing that in order to be warm, your power bill will far exceed what you earn. Imagine going to your closet, finding your shoes have grown mould due to the dampness. Imagine going to the few shops, knowing its the same crap on offer, and trying to budget feeding a family of 5 on a few dollars. Imagine sending your kids to school knowing that Maori language, NZ history, and Rugby is far more important than Maths/english etc. Imagine working for an asshole of a boss on a pittance of a wage and being made to look like a novice in a skill you have learned 25+ years ago. Imagine earning $11 ph and being taxed on the very first dollar you earn Imagine having to spend your entire life in the city you chose to live in, because petrol cost a fortune to get anywhere and that one road from top of country to bottom takes you through every one horse town in NZ. Your weekend has gone before you even reach your destination. Imagine wanting to go to the other island and finding the flights are more than the cost to get to OZ. Imagine a life with just the beach for entertainment. Imagine being so poor, holidays are just a distant memory. Imagine having a very nice garden though, because that's all they have to do that's free. Meanwhile the interior is in need of repair. Imagine trying to escape!:D:( |

Re: We are LOVING Australia!!!!
Freezing is an understatement! Power bills too scary to even mention! No come to OZ, it is ace here! Love it!
Faults so far: None. If I had to think of any faults about Aussie (IMO) I wouldn't be able to find one! I must have been an Aussie in a past life, adapted so well here.:D:D |
Re: We are LOVING Australia!!!!
I have found only one fault Rascal, the flies in the height of summer are very bad in Melbourne, no idea how they are in Canberra. However all the positives more than outweigh this one negative!

Re: We are LOVING Australia!!!!
Fly screens all round Buzzy, so not a problem (yet?) even the spiders are hard to find and the snakes, were the hell are they?
I thought this place was crawling with them???? Haven't seen any yet!! Had more spiders back home in UK, true. So, I am still on 'faultless zone' yet Buzzy. Only 1 regret- we didn't come here first!:( Never going to move out of Aussie, am planning coming back in my next life here too! And the next one after that and so on....:D:rofl: |
