We have arrived !!!!!!

Well we did it and have finally arrived in Perth. We landed in Perth around 2.30pm on thursday stayed up and visited the local area to be told stock up cos everywhere will be closed tomorrow cos its easter.

Looks of shock between hubby and me too tired to care that much so did what we could which was not much.

We survived the next day and hey we found some shops open kids went in the pool which I might add was absolutly b****y freezing and my 8 year old wanted me to go in hmmmmmn no was the answer to that.

That night went to bed and left hubby watching a film after 10mins he comes into the room to tell me we have a visitor. Oh ok I say what type and he informs me it is a huge cockroach. I remain calm and ask him has he dealt with it? Oh no just thoght I would tell you about it so if you saw another you wouldnt get upset. HMMMn What do you want me to do come and kill it I ask? No but then he cant find said monster. So obviously I have to get up and help him and guess who sees it first oh me almost lands on my foot and the the Big White Hunter slams his trainer on it 4 times to ensues it is dead and then gingerly flushes the monster. Then he sits on the sofa with his feet up clutching trainer in case any others appear. Needless to say we slept with the light on because every noise we switched the light on to see what it was.

Today we bought a massive can of bug killer. We also went around rental properties that we had seen online to see if they were in an area that we could get to work and school from. Yep some are possible and guess what ? Rental agents not in cos its easter  so will see what happens next week. Cant do any official stuff cos closed for you guessed it easter. Ah well at least we get to wander around and not suffer from jet lag and check things out before the mad dash with school and work.

Will update more when more happens especially if we have any more visitors for the big white hunter to save me from. can you believe it he wants brownie points for it as well  could have been worse we now have a code its riverdance to signal any more visitors fingers crossed they will realise we are anti social and wont acome calling anymore lol

well we have been here a couple of weeks and my daily routine is get up view the net for new properties make a list of the ones we like and phone numerous agents for viewings some of which never respond grrrrrr.

Been to see some properties some are nice some we have fallen in love with and some well least said soonest mended.

Been to meet my boss seems very nice got a whirlwind tour of the hospital to the extent gonna get lost on the first day on monday lol. Have been given my rosta for the next 2 weeks cool and on top ofthat still need to find a place to live hmmmmn.

On the plus side the public transport here is sooooooooo good but I bow my head to others on here yes I do need a car so my nights duties have increased to finding a cheap car as well as properties to view.

Found one we fell in love with and was ideal for the kids but just been told no  what did i do wrong so now we go to others and apply again believe me with no car and 2 kids its a nightmare but on the plus side its sunny lol

1 Year on update

Hi all
Well we have now been here for 12 months and I have avoided the forum because we have had a llot of ups and downs and Ive either been too busy or too homesick to be on the forum.

Well where to start hmmmn

Well we rented a place within 2 weeks of arriving even if the first week was easter (smug not) I bought a car the same week and started work busy busy. We enrolled the 2 girls in thier schools and I though hey life is good sun sea and sand no probs. Then winter hit and we were cold OMG the house was cold at night so we bought blankets and hoodies and survived I even managed to avoid all the water on the road to work and the maniac perth drivers who really should not be allowed on the road in the dark when it is wet.

Anyway summer reappeared and the blankets became delegated to the back of the cupboard. We then became infested with ants in the living room. Ok not good DD 2 screaming hysterical well she is 9 so I deal with her and then spray the carpet the stair carpet and then the bedroom carpet and walk down again. As I step on the tiled floor I slip and hit my head on the corner of the wall and go down like a lead balloon. DD1 and DD2 now hysterical DH not too happy and begins to fuss. I feel light headed check theres no blood so get up and reassure everyone Im ok. So I settle everyone down and we eventually go to bed.

Life continues and I start to relax. We take DH for his first Drs appointment as he needs diabetic meds. On the way back this maniac driver takes us out from the passenger side and we spin round 360 degrees in the middle of the road. Luckily noone seriously injured I switch to army mode and deal with it get car sorted insurance co phoned work phoned etc etc. Find out car is trashed so not gonna repair and will have to replace oh the joy. In the meantime gonna have to hire a vehicle. So ok deal with and move on. Only problem is I now dislike traffic lights and nearly cause another one when i panic in a similer situation not good. But hey again I recover life goes on DH gets a part time job and I think yep life getting better. DD1 settled happy has boyfriend has part time job cool life is sweet. DD2 starts being bullied at school. So I deal with this and I think hey life settling sun sea sand. I then walk into the house on a day off with noone around and the fly screen attacks my heel and cuts into it so deep I almost swoon and believe me I am not a swooning woman unless its after giving birth I might add. But being the trouoper I am I think crap cant go near carpet might stain it need to get a towel on it so I dont stain the grout in tiles. I do and I then sort it out and again move on. At this point Im thinking hmmmn maybe australia is testing me or maybe dosent like me hmmmn.

So finally things start to settle and I caustiously begin to relax start working with trauma vets at work which I adore its so wonderful and like a comfy pair of shoes. :o I then get called in to boss office to be told Im not being a team player  I was like oh ok will try harder. So I try to answer the phone more and smile more and interact more with everyone after about 2 days I give up because its not me also I dont have time to do this and do my job properly. But then a week after the conversation Im told I am being a team player now  Which I find kinda bizzare but hey Ill take what ever I can get.

So again I caustiously attempt to relax always waiting for the next brick I mean come on its waiting. So we then get a text from tenant back home cooker dead so believe me trying to arrange things accross the world not good but finally sort it.

DD2 starts netball at school she loves it and starts girl guides finally I breath a sigh of relief she is settling finally DD1 still happy but growing up too soon she is 15 :frown: but believes she is 20. But she loves it here and is ok.

I have a day off so we go to beach u know cos hey sun sea sand. I put sun screen on everyone factor 50 for me and 1 hr later I feel a bit warm so I go to a cafe. That night I discover how red my arm and back is OMG I managed to get burnt so everyone at work found this highly amusing :o But luckily I was fine and it healed. The aftersun had tanning agent in didnt realise so I ended up with orange palms again lots of merriment at my expense.

But life settled again and I started to relax which you know is dumb of me and one of my collegues decide hey lets make her life hell !!!!! which she has been doing for a while now but which is sooooooooo about to stop cos Im gonna get her

But whilst been here have also had the anniversary of my friends death after I did CPR on her not good as at that time 2 of my patients were trying to commit suicide and I was dealing with disclosure from another with CSA so it was hard and I struggled for a time but managed with chocolate hehehehe

So now finally training at the gym have lost 8kg being bullied at work which will end any day now cos I have a plan and am strting to relax again cos I believe that we can only go up now  and if we dont I can manage I have so what else is there left for Australia to throw at me? Hmmmmn actually dont tell me I dont wanna tempt fate nor give this house or Australia any ideas ok.

Sorry for the long post but Ive not been on for a very long time but am going to be a bit more visable :p

Avril
