Redback & Family- Two Months on in Adelaide

[F]We made it..yeh.. And we're here...yeh.. and loving it...yeh...

Our last week in the UK was a mad rush around, starting from Yorkshire, gradually going through Lincolnshire, on to Leicestershire, down to Poole, over to Cardiff (Oohh most beautiful Wales) on to Porthcawl, a step to the right to Bath (Pensilvania to be exact), meander over to Swindon and on to Uxbridge before creeping in at Heathrow.. Wanted to visit so many more people but we ran out of time, cash and energy. We had a gorgeous hire car that we didn't actually want to hand back, it felt like home after all the hours we had spent in it. We had a two night stay at the Premier Lodge Heathrow, very nice and Gen's sister was able to spend some last minute quality time with us. We had a fantastic day at Camden Town. Recommend the markets to anyone. Then the day of the flight, and all the promises to not shed a tear went out of the window. And we boarded the plane for the last time as UK residence...

We landed in Adelaide, 6th Dec 2006 to a glorious sunny morning, stepped off the plane to our new lives... We were met by relatives and the drive back to their house was strange just knowing that this is it, we are here, new life, new surroundings, new everything. It was then that it dawned on us exactly how bigger step we have taken...and what a bloody fantastic step it was too...no looking back now...

The first week we spent adjusting to our new environment, not in holiday mode, but a relaxed pace. We 100 point identified ourselves with Westpac bank who we had set up an account with before leaving the UK. We organised our Tax file numbers and got enroled with employment agencies. The following couple of weeks saw us buying cars, registering the youngest into high school and still seeking employment as well as our own accommodation. That was an exhausting episode, all the open days, there is a shortage of rental accommodation but perseverance prevailed. We moved into our rental on the 19th Dec 2006, put a borrowed Christmas tree up, took delivery of some furniture that we had bought the week before and Dave excepted a job offer, Gen still looking...

Christmas was great, we had relatives over from the UK too:ohmy: , New Year was great, but surreal as we witnessed people in bathers on the beach on News Years Eve in the evening, that is something we have never seen before..

Relies went home on the 13th Jan 2007, another weird experience, to be the one left standing in Australia.. ..not the one going all that way to England.

This last couple of weeks has seen us celebrating AUSTRALIA DAY, our eldest got a job, Gen got a job and the youngest loves school:rofl: ...life couldn't be better, Ah, well...maybe a little better, our stuff from the UK landed in Adelaide on 22nd Jan and Pickfords are delivering it TOMORROW, 8th Feb. Whey Hey, PARTY TIME... We so need to see our stuff, it will be like Christmas all over again.. BRING IT ON...
