It was to do with petty jealousy from a few posters.
I am really glad that you got your dream house in the end

Fantastic update
I am glad we chose Mellie too and we are really looking forward to going to the snow in a few weeks - has to be some advantage to the cold weather.
On the B&J's if you see anywhere selling Cherry Garcia over here let me know

Great to read, but on your links the reccie about Melbourne is missing ??
You make Mordy sound like a good alternative, as we are looking at what's on offer closer to the action than Mount Martha, which I like.
But when looking at the property listing on the typical site. Mordy seems so much more expensive and a lot of really poor old houses for $5-600k.
Am I missing something ?

It's because it is on the main train line to the City and a lot closer to there by car than Mount Martha.
It depends where you work I suppose. I did the commute from Mt Eliza and than Mt Martha to the City for a few months and it drove me round the bend.

Yes I understand the closer to the CBD on the train line you get, prices go up. But there just seemed like a load of rally horid 3+1 houses on 500 sq plots for $500 and up.
I will be based in the Industrial zones, Dand, Braes or even Bays.
As much as I liked Martha to Eliza. Wife demands a full report on alternatives to investigate. We had already looked at the Ferny, Basin, Upwey areas before for non coastal. So just looking up the coast now.

I love Mornington, but if I had to choose another spot then I would go for Mordialloc. It has a great feel about it, whenever I drive home that way for some reason I alway associate it to belng nearly home, even thought I have still got 30 minutes to go.

In Mordialloc now if you want a family house on a decent sized block you'll need 900k plus. Our friends just sold a 4 bed town house here on a tiny (300m2) block for 851k. Mordialloc is a 45 min commute to the city and is surrounded by fantastic bay beaches. Mount Martha would be considered not commuteable by most Melburnians, although the beaches and lifestyle are probably better than suburbs further in. To tell the truth, even though we have only been in the Mordialloc property market less than 2 years, there is no way we could afford to buy what we would like here now!

Knew you would do fine Buzzie. Had your card marked from the start!
To new hopefuls: read this post. Digest it.
There are reasons why some people do well here when others don't.
Gumption. Spark. Initative....others too. Also luck.
(And being able to spell too.)

We'll be moving to Eltham next year, so after 3 years of reading your posts, I might finally get to shake your hand
Thank you for your update Buzzy, it was great to see "your journey" written up, rather than trying to pick up bits & pieces from your 4999 posts. Wishing you more happy years
