Nice to put teaching behind you. Good luck with training for your new job.

OOPS, been here 4 years (on the 6th February just past) - still love it. Been back to the UK twice now, and both times was homesick for here. The last time was Christmas 2013 and I was homesick pretty much from day dot, which was very odd as my other half is currently deployed in the big sandpit for 8 months, so apart from my dog back here, I was better off in the UK with family. Left teaching, after 13 long years, in December. WOO HOOOO! A new career beckons, which I start training for next month, watch this space!
Over and out, me x

I have been following you for a while. ( that sounds a bit dodgy )
Love how positive you are. Good luck with it all!

Re: The 'Jen1977au' thread
FIVE YEARS TODAY, THAT'S HALF A DECADE!!!
Some key things I've achieved in that time, in chronological order...
Got a lovely dog called Derek, he's a boxer and turns 4 next week!
Lost 20kg...
Popped back to NI for the first time, for my birthday and got homesick for AUSTRALIA!!!
Took up running and have since run several half-marathons, this being the year of the full marathon. In the UK I was a lazy fat waste of space who avoided all forms of exercise AT ALL COSTS!
Moved from Toowoomba to Brisbane...
Learnt how to survive an 8 month deployment, all on my own, WHILST training for my new career!
Left teaching after 14 years...
...and started a new career (which was kind of a continuation of one I already did part-time in Northern Ireland)
Learnt a whole new appreciation of early mornings, setting my alarm for 4am and sometimes earlier, for training runs, even during weekends!
.....and after 5 years the one major flaw I feel this country has is....a serious lack of freshly cut chips, what's with the frozen crap? lol Oh and I still miss Chinese food like it was done back in the UK! Apart from that, LOVE THIS COUNTRY, LOVE LIVING HERE, LOVE IT ALL! YAY!

Wow Jen, you've achieved a lot and must be pleased, living in Australia has been good for you.
As for chips, I used to like them in Oz, the ones here in England are too soft. Perhaps it depends on the chippy.

Based in townsville. Just got to love training through the wet season up here..
Thats one reason we tend to give Canberra a miss. It to early in the season. The thought of long runs at this time of year is not funny. Have done Melbourne 4 times, and did my first at the Gold Coast.
