Default Finally.

Ok, so we now have a roof over our heads and a car to go about our daily routine in, the next thing was tax file numbers and medicare enrolment. We also changed our driving licenses over to the australian version, simply because its just over the road from the medicare offices, in Joodalup's centre.
We can now start looking for work with a record history and an address to receive mail and information from, our phone line will take a week or so for connection we think?
Has for net usage at the moment we are using a dongle with 3G usage on it, has we cannot commit to a long term contract with any of the big boys just yet...
Today we are off to Ikea to get a matress to sleep on, we do have new beds arriving in THREE WEEKS, but our poor backs just can't cope with beach air beds and a blanket
We will get by with just a matress has the new stuff will be here soon enough, containers are great but please be mindful of the times and waiting you will go through, just like we are.
Our living and dining conditions consist of six white plastic chairs and a table from bunnings, all temporary until our new things and existing furniture from the UK turns up.
We also had to buy a fridge/freezer and a washing machine, hubby got the tv of course

Looks like you're getting there.

We camped in our empty rental for two months before our stuff arrived. Bought a huge lounge suite, which I slept on until our stuff arrived.

It will feel like Christmas when it does arrive.

We camped in our UK home for a month prior to leaving, got here the same time as our stuff. Keep going Deb, you'll sort it all out eventually and then be lost for something to do

aww, its not fun like real camping, even though making do makes sense there is no point in damaging your health.

We used out door furniture for months too, but like you the tv was a priority.

good luck, you will feel more settled when you have your home organised.

Get yourselves down to your local driving license centre and take a ticket, wait - wait and then wait some more then you get to fill out a form proove who you are via varying means of ID, read off a eye test card, have your mug shot retaken, don't forget to smile Pay the fee, 1 year or 5 your choice. Then it comes through the post ours landed three days later. P.S. you have not got long left either - 3 months and times up.

Welcome to Canberra! We've been here just a bit longer than you - three months but left London at the end of October.

We got our licences done at the lower ground level in the library behind the fountains at Civic. A doddle to arrange. Have you sorted your tax file number and medicare yet? If you haven't it can be done a stones throw from the place where you get your licences.

I'm surprised you don't have a delivery date yet. Which shipping agent are you using? It'll all seem worth it when you have all your stuff. The house transforms into the home that you're used to . It takes about a week to unpack and sort out though
