coming up for 2!
Well it will be 2 years ago in May since my wife and I arrived from Scotland!
I can't really believe how easily we have settled. A great group of friends spread from the couple we met whilst in a Graceville rental and I think this bit of fortune has helped us hugely. Work has been great for us too. I came over as a welder but have never struck an arc as the first job I got was as a non working foreman and I was then promoted to an office job dealing with customers and estimating. A big personal leap from my 7 day a week hard graft in the UK! My wife landed a job in IT with an airline and has just been promoted, so along with staff travel, she is enjoying life at work too. We both work just as hard as in the UK but somehow it all seems to mesh better here for us, and speaking for myself at least, I could not have got to this position in Scotland. We've been in our house a year and are slowly picking away at the jobs that need done to make the house we could afford into the one we wanted!!;) There is actually no real negatives for us tbh. We are so settled and happy here and having every weekend off is still a novelty to me after 12 years of working weekends. We love the weather and spend so much more time outdoors, especially in the evenings. It's just perfect with a glass of wine on the deck, just remember to wash your hands after putting on some RID!! Best of luck to everyone, whatever your situation. My next update will probably be citizenship:thumbsup: |
Re: coming up for 2!
Hi - glad to hear you are enjoying your new life downunder. It certainly sounds as though you have really settled well and I wish you and your wife all the best for the future. I hope that when we arrive in Oz, we settle as quickly as you have. (Whereabouts in Scotland did you come from? My OH is from Ayrshire, with MIL still living in Irvine
Take care, Lou xx |

I liked Edinburgh too - SIL is still near there and No 1 son spent 5 years at St. Andrews Uni. Certainly a lovely part of Scotland, but no doubt the weather with you must be a lot better than Scotland?!! Lou x
