This thread is becoming somewhat surrealistic.

As noted by others, you'll be earning a fortune compared to most.

Of course, if you live in 4 houses and eat 12 meals a day (all in Michelin star restaurants) it may not be enough.

Otherwise, you'll be fine.

Put it in perspective:

$350k is equivalent to $4k net per week

OP we had 2 in private school and before other costs this and rental of 3 bed 2 bath house in better part of melbourne was just short of $3k per week

When assessing private ensure you account for 20% to 30% on top for other costs.

Hilarious. :D

I am struggling to write a sensible response to someone who is concerned that $350,000 will not be enough to live on so I'm not going to write any more replies.

Thank you for your reply. That's great to hear
but am confused as some ppl have said due to the cost of
living the exchange rate should be looked
at as €2.5 to every £1. If this is the case then €350,000
works out around £150,000 which is no better
to what earnings in the UK are.

Is €2.5 to every £1 realistic?

Do you mind me asking if you have kids and
do you rent, own a house, can afford to travel back to
the UK once a year, etc.

How much does health insurance cost for a family
of 4?

Thank you so much for your help.

Hanna

Are you talking euros or dollars? You keep referring to € - but we use $ here.

if you use the unofficial rate of $2.2-$2.5 = £1 then you can compare prices in a rough sort of fashion.

That means that your husbands potential earnings of $350k will have the same spending power as £150k in the UK. Considering that £150k is approx 5 times the average annual income in the UK (and $350k is approx 5 times the average income in Australia) I'm bewildered as to why you're so interested in the availability of cheap food, clothes, toys.

Yes, again you should assume 2-2.5 as a reasonable comparison. So gbp 150k is really quite similar to the 350k and you would feel much the same or slightly worse off financially. I am still, like others, baffled as to your questioning on cheap clothes, cost of cinema tickets and other trivial items on this income, do you struggle to find money for tje cinema now?

We earn half that and we consider ourselves well-off so I would say you would be VERY well-off on $350,000. :)

I would echo Elices comments.
On 350k, you are absolutely laughing, no wukkas at all
