I drove for the first 18 months and now get the train - 4 years now. Incredibly though, I drove about 6 months ago and it was fine - and alot better than it was - due to the completion of the widening of the M1 making a difference - **at the time I left* which was earlier rather than later. I stopped driving initially due to winter evenings and fatique.
