Yep,it was his birthday on Boxing Day so went into city and had a few beers with him and his missus, well, quite a few beers actually:ohmy: Twas a fun evening;)

Batter mix you're joking right:ohmy: Alan, will have to do without or make his own :p Only kidding - should be fine as long as they declare it when they go thru customs at the airport. As for dried mushy peas - dont have to worry anymore as our lovely local IGA store has them, the OZ version that is and the aint half bad either - hip hip hurray:D

That update was nothing compared to the other 3 previous ones - I did actually edit it as was worried it was too risky in places - wish I had left it as it was now wld have been more fun:sneaky:

The next ex pats meet is at the Cock and Bull pub in Cairns on Saturday January 24th from around 4.30 p.m.
Where in Manchester did you move from and are you in Cairns now? Where are you looking to live here?

We lived just outside Hyde, between Hyde and Glossop and were in manchester for 4 years so had a few good nights out there? We miss our favourite restaurant Velvet...
We are in Kewarra Beach..are you looking for a place to rent? We are just buying a house at Kewarra so will be putting a post on here about our place being free to rent...feel free to p.m us if need be.

Hope to see you at the meet. We have been here for 9 months and love it.

Just read your post again, you arrive 6th Feb, not January!! I am being stupid..you wont make the January meet then!!! There is another meet planned for mid Feb so will keep you updated on that..may be in Palm Cove which is on the Northern Beaches area...do you know where you will be staying when you get to Cairns?

hey sounds great!!!! we are just saying good byr here had a great party last night but finding saying good bye hard!!!!
We live in Offerton and love velvet!!!! we will miss canal street and hope to find something simular in cairns!!!
We plan to live in freshwater as the schools are good there??
kewarra beach was our ultimate destination but we were sold freshwater!!!
