4 years, Student visa route

Thought I would give an update on our situation.

Done college in january 2010 and completed plastering course, applied for 485 graduate visa, which I am still waiting on.

According to immigration it can take up to 3 years to get on this visa, so plenty of time to get work experiance for Trade.

It was all a bit of a worry while at college but I am beyond worrying about visa's now after 4 years.

The cost has went through the roof as well.

All in all it may take up to 7years to get PR through the student route if you do it the long way.

Overall I am happy that I live here but its a bit of a pissmeoff that we are stuck in limbo kind of.

If anyone has any questions or has an update on there student route feel free to post here as I would like to know if anyone has actually got PR yet lol.

Regards.

I did postgrad in law. I got admitted/assessed 25 June 2010. I then applied for my 885 on the same day. My assigned case officer emailed me on 22 aug 2011 req docs; uploaded AFP/RCMP docs; Case officer emailed req 2nd Meds to be done on 2 Dec 2011. I uploaded Meds 7 Dec. I received an email from the CO informing my Application has been finalized on 15 Dec 2011. My 885 visa granted got on the same day :)

I've been in Oz since 22 Aug 2007 :) It's been a looooongggg and tiring adventure :)

My son is in the same boat, he arrived august 2007 on a whv and then did the 2 year student visa, currently he has virtuallly almost finished the job ready programme which is a further year with his 485 being granted last week so by the time he has his final assessment done it will be March b4 he can apply for pr (thats assuming he can achieve 8 in all ielts tests as he needs that so he has enough points) the goal posts are constantly being moved which has made this a very expensive and stressful journey
