I went to ChCh as a child from UK, I was so bullied becuase I spoke differently to the other kids in my school, so can understand just how your husband felt in ChCh. We arrived to camp beds on a front lawn of a rented 2 room apartment, ashes in the hearth, no curtains and Mum was told rent is due tomorrow. We had been promised so much more by Dads employer, needless to say once his 2 years were up he left them and got another job. I came to Sydney in 1985 to get married and my parents followed in 1989, the best move we ever did, they regretted all the years they had in ChCh.
So pleased it has all worked out for you after such a long struggle, it must have been so hard to not feel welcomed on the other side of the world. Our family in UK have asked both my husband and myself, if we would ever live back in UK, no way, how could we leave this glorious country.

I love how positively you write and how you never gave up. So delighted that Oz is your happy place and all are thriving. Inspirational story and wish all the best for you and your family.
