Hi. Just wanted your opinion really. I am a registered nurse here in the UK. I quailified in Jan 09 and after only a 2 month stint in a hospital I left and worked in a dementia care home. I am however desperately wanting to get back into the hospital environment when I emigrate to Perth at the end of June but I have not done my venepuncture or IV training. Do you think any hospital would take me on and give me a little training to get me back into hospital nursing or will I have to stick to nursing homes?

Hi, I will speak to my colleague tomorrow who deals with Western Australia. Would you be prepared to go to a remote area. Send me your cv to [email protected] and I can ask her advice. Thanks Adele

Hello BrendonE,

Do you by any chance work in the field of radiography? I am a nuclear medicine & CT technologist. At the moment I am in Europe, and would like to relocate back to the states (I am from the states), but rather than a technologist, I am looking for a position as a PACS administrator. Any help you could provide would be highly appreciated.

Hi. I can't go to a remote area as my husband is in IT and is looking to work in Perth. I am having hell of a time trying to sort out my registration at the moment the NMBWA seem so off with me so all job hunting is on hold until I know I can work in OZ.

Have you put in all the documents for your registration yet? If you like you can email me on [email protected].

I have sent all my docs in and have been trying to get it sorted since February. Three trips now to solicitors cause firstly Nursing Board said solicitors stamp wasn't right and then again cause I hadn't had every page of my transcript stamped. Then IELTS result didn't get to them so had to be re sent. Now NMC verification hasn't got there but the lady at the Western Australia nursing board never bothered to let me know so I have been sitting here expecting my registration through and it was never going to happened if it wasn't for me emailing them. The NMC here in the UK say it has got there and they won't send a repeat copy out. I have emailed lady a Western Australia Nursing board to explain so have to just wait for a reply now. The lady dealing with my application is very hostile in her emails so I'm feeling rather let down at the moment.

Hi

I have spoken with my colleague. You will have to go into a teaching hospital and none of the hospitals in Perth will use Agencies. We suggest that once you are here, you get in touch with them. Perth is very over subscribed and it depends at the time how desperate they are. Good luck with everything, I hope it pans out for you.

hiya (sorry to hijack brendone)
you would be better approaching hospitals in the state you want to work for that kind of work - i work as a nurse in med imaging and know how specialised the role you want is; i think most radiographers rotate to PACS (they do where i work) rather than do that permanently. one of our radiographers has a boyfriend who looked into working in the states last year so when i see her next week i will ask her/his advice and let you know.

No worries, glad that someone else can perhaps help. Thanks

Hi

Just wondering if you can give me a bit of insight, into job vacancies in QLD. I have 14 yrs nursing experience, currently work in a community hospital but have experience in ICU and renal dialysis. looking to take my IELTS soon and then apply for QNC registration, but not started anything visa wise as not sure i can get enough points for the 175 with the recent changes, so possibly looking for sponsorship on 457 visa or ENS/RSMS. Would like to live in regional QLD, Cairns preferably or Townsville

thanks

If you have contacted the hospitals directly which I seem to recall from one of your other threads then our only advice would be to go along the Regional Sponsor Migration route as it is the same amount of time and effort as a temporary visa and saves you the cost and effort of having to go through the process again to get a permanent visa. Regards Adele

Sorry Suzanne I should have said that is what you need to negotiate with your employers for the regional sponsorship.

Thank you for the input. Most hospitals do not even bother to reply back, they are so slammed with resumes. I was thinking that if they work with a particular agency, it would be a better approach. I will just keep looking into it.

Hello Adele,

are there any opportunities for new graduate nurses (educated in the U.S.)?
