Where are you going to be based? A lot of the hospitals in the main areas don't use recruitment agencies. However, it is a good thing that you are registered as that is a major step. Send me your cv to [email protected] and I will see what I can do for you.

Its geat someone is offering to assist nurses, but as i have said many, many times its just as easy for nurses to get permenant residency as any other visa, so i would advise if this is daunting for nurses to visit an emigration agent or vist the emigration forum bit on here.
However as again i have said many times people take different visas for different reasons , but i would be scepticle about jumping into a recruitment agency, (as i did)
Also just out of curiosity does anyobe know the fee the recruitment places recieve from the hosps once the nurse starts working there, and can the nurse leave, does the agency or nurse in any way have to pay anything back, e.g the nurse pay flights (if they get them paid in the first place), back, also will the nurse be able to apply for p.r and will the agency or hosp assist them when they come to this stage, will they get financial help to leave the country (as you have to be to recieve p.r), starting off with one visa and eventually having to change to p.r (which most people have to and want to due to the advantages of p.r), is a costly business once you are in aus.
ALL I REALLY MEAN TO SAY NURSES IS LOOK AT ALL THE OPTIONS IN GETTING TO AUS, choose the one that will be most beneficial for you and your family (remember if you have kids, if you are not p.r this can be costly re;education as you may have to pay for them to attend a public school, never mind a private), p.r may take longer (and by that probably an extra couple of months) to obtain, but it may save you heartache in the longrun.
I do expect to be ignored by this post coz i have posted similiar ones a gizillion times on here, lol, but it usually results in karma from nurses who are here, with statements like 'falling on deaf ears', 'wish i had known more about visas' 'wish i had p.r as i am stuck somewhere i hate' etc, etc,

I totally agree with being independant too as I personally hate being beholden to anyone for anything and it pays to read the fine print !
Largely,I would say that possibly the people that may go through an agency might be a bit younger or newly qualified and uncertain of proceedings.Also if the minimal one year requirement has not been met could be another reason.Just my take on the why's and wherefores.........

I am sorry you have had such a hard time. Our company specialise in placing overrseas trained nurses and Medical Specialists. We are not migration agents but contract the relevant advice when necessary. As I mentioned a lot of the hospitals prefer currently to recruit their own staff and not use agencies, however, where there is an area of need, they are happy to look at our candidates. At the moment, due to the economic climate, we have reduced our fee significantly and a lot of hospitals and practices can't afford to pay agency fees. I am not sure what Agency you went with but not all Agencies are the same, we run a very professional boutique business and will always do our best for our candidates and clients. Depending on what visa you are on and depending on the individual schools and States, determines whether you have to pay for schooling or not. I have friends who I know who have had to pay and others who haven't.

Another thing I should mention is that if hospitals can recruit nurses themselves they are going to do that first before using a recruitment agency. We look at the jobs that are available and submit only candidates that have registration and are suited to the particular role advertised. Unless it is an area of need, they will not sponsor at the current time. I have recently placed a mental health nurse in Melbourne who had their PR visa and I have placed a disability nurse in Darwin, who is getting sponsorship, it all depends on the client's requirements. We are just a middle man providing the best service to both clients and candidates to the best of our ability.

Exactly as i said many people (not just nurses), go for different visas for different reasons, when i was young i was here on a temp visa, which suited me fine, 40plus a hubby, and two kids, then it would have been madness for me in my situation to com on anything other than p.r , even now i feel very lucky compared to some other peeps to have the privilage of p.r

Because it meets the guidelines for that forum. A recruiter directly offering to assist with jobs belongs more in here than in the Nursing forum. The Nursing forum is for private individuals talking about nursing, nursing experiences, and the diferent places abraod where they can go to work. There is still a link in the Nursing forum, so you are effectively getting double exposure
