£1700 divided by 62ppl = 2742 ltrs a month
2742 x 12 (months) = 32904 divided by 52 (weeks) as you have quoted monthly against weekly prices = 633 ltrs a week
633 ltrs / 139 gal x 8 (mpg approx?) = 1112 miles a week /1779 kms

So unless your vehicle is REALLY fuel efficient, or you dont cover many miles a week?

Liked this too:
costs 465+400+1700+400 = 2965 a month x 12 divide by 52 = £621 a week
£2000 (average gross income) - £621 = £1379 profit a week x 52 = £71708 profit a year.

£71708 a year profit based on your cost's, but you said £24000 profit - so only about £47,000 out somewhere................
Jumping to conclusions are we?!!!!
Who drives a truck 52 weeks/year? I'm not driving OTR Try 47 weeks the quarry closes for 5 weeks holidays/year!!!!
£47000 missing?!!! Although not as much as this you FORGOT about Wages!!!!
Quarry work, roughly 16 mile round trips to Belfast docks.

Score now 3-0

It was based on YOUR figures

Also I'm still trying to work out how you are only going to pay £16,000 for a 2003 6x2? (and thats not including interest and profit for the lease company / vehicle owner)

If business is that good - I'd get a few more.............

I agree with you on one point - Yes it's not relevant. This thread is for the people who have the balls to go and give it a go, even if the odd are stacked against them.

And no, I won't be going onto Truck forum's as I have enough Truck crap on a daily basis. I meet enough drivers throughout the day, without having to come up with a name to suggest I drive a truck and chat to other people like you.

I am only on here for finding out about Canada - and to follow the progress of people who are actually going to, or are in Canada.

Night night, of to bed before another days work.............

It is a 2003 6x2 truck "chipped" to 475hp and I'm paying £465/month and at the end of the 3 years its mine, not like your $2350/month one where after fives years of paying that you hand it back (4 yrs then it's mine)!!!!!!!!
That Peterbilt 359 (i didn't know peterbilt made a 359 but even if they did i haven't got one, mines a 387)of yours that does 7/8mpg and uses $2000 fuel/month (As i stated in my op, i get diesel at the same price the Co. i run for get it, you have no idea how much that is and even i don't, all i know is that my bill from the company is $2000 a month for fuel)hauling tyres,I've a few O/O friends of mine (I find it very hard to believe you have any friends) in the lower 48 who need to know your truck spec's as they want to order 10 new ones each!!!!!!!

Score now 2-10 possibly but i can't recall you scoring 2!!!!!
A friendly piece of advice, learn to count, get your facts right before shouting your mouth off and just try a little harder to join the human race........... how to win friends and influence people, jeez, you just don't get it do you.

BTW, your figures come out at 1112 miles a week, this is impossible to do in the hours allowed and at the speeds governed by the EU so now go figure!!!!!!

I fear for you I really do,
You do not know much about trucking at all if you think you can't easily do 1112 miles/week (only 222 miles/day yes I can count?!!!) legally in the UK, its not unknown for O/D's to get 2000 miles/week and stay legal.
You have insulted me enough I gave you a chance:
Your figures of $2350/ month "LEASED" over 48 months including all tyres/servcing/brakedowns and you get to keep the truck, means you have the biggest bargain in Canada or your the biggest FOOL!!!!
I know who you are hauling for and I know their figures are veeeeeeery suspicious,if your still going in 6 months I'll be very suprised.( you see I have got friends)

Lost track 5-0 is it?
Good job I started a full time driver in September eh Gremmie?!!!!

I am man enough to admit i got your weekly mileage wrong, something which you are incapable of.

so here goes then,
#1 As it's well documented and you seem to be incapable of reading whats written, i pay $2350 for my truck PLUS $0.065 per mile for a FULL MAINTANANCE CONTRACT.

#2 Whats suspicious about there figures? i have it in black and white. i repeat, whats suspicious?

#3 If you know who i haul for, say it. I don't mind anyone knowing. if as you say, a friend told you, then it's not really a friend, just someone who feels sorry for you.

Hay Andy, you're an O/D here in Canada, thats cool, seemed i missed that, what with all this BT crap. This is something i would also contenplate, was O/D in UK and Switzerland, want to learn the system here first. But its something worth investigating tho.
Slightly ironic that your wifes a nurse,we tear BT apart and she can mend him, that way the fun never ends

Hi Gremmie
I love your sense of humour. Sheila would chew him up into more pieces than i would she likes a challenge though and i'm afraid BT would be no match for her.
On a serious note though, if there is anything you would like to know then i will be glad to help. I don't pretend to know everything but i will tell you if i'm 100% sure, wether it is something i have heard or just an educated guess. One thing i will not do is lie and dress it up to make it sound better than it is. This also applies to anyone on this forum.................including BT.
I have finished arguing with him as like my wife, i like a challenge and he's just become a repetitive bore, the bickering has also taken over a good and imformative thread that a lot of people would have got some very useful info from but will probably be staying away from now.
I apologise to Karla and anyone else who has been upset by this thread being ruined by childish bickering.

I am very happy to answer any questions from anyone that wants to know about trucking in canada.
