Little more than an excuse to refuse PR. You need 5 'O' levels to drive a truck? Really? I'd like to know how many Canadian truckers have the equivalent.... The industry over there is full of good little boys who did well in high school? Paragons of virtue.
You think thats bad? Well imagine being an English GP looking to take your skills to Canada.... You need to requalify all over again. The healthcare on PEI makes the NHS look great, its not like they don't need doctors.

Its not to drive a truck. Its to emigrate through the provincial nominee programme, in general. (at least in Alberta) They cant have one rule for one 'profession' and another for trucking.

They want you to be able to contribute to their economy. To bring skills and experience. Alot of jobs would require you to have at least a high school diploma, even a waiter... so they are making sure you wont move over, quit trucking, be unemployable and have to sign on and claim unemployment.

Quite frankly to CHANGE the rules in January2011 while Karen's hubby with family was ALREADY over working in AB for TWO years under a TWP and had applied for PNP is completely WRONG and CANNOT be justified in any way!!!:frown:

But you seemed to have come back to the UK in a rush when the "rules" only changed in Jan this year, are there no such things as human rights lawyers or employment/imigration specialist Solicitors in Alberta?

Did the rules actually change though? High School graduate equivalency has been a requirement all along hasn't it?

Well then I wonder how many of the trucking guys who already have PR in AB do possess 5 "0" level passes@gradeC or above/5CSE grade1's or whatever is the eqivalent in GCSE's etc?

Or is it just that your need to have any level of grades in any five subjects of the above?

Surely then "Karen31's" hubby has studied and taken/passed more than five secondary school exams when he attended school?

Thinking back(loooooong time:o) it was approx 10subjects I studied at school during 4th/5th forms and only gained one gradeC "O" level and one grade1 CSE the others being lesser grades but still passes.

I can readily accept that it is getting much harder to gain PR in AB for "new TWP/PNP" applications but to ruin the life of somebody by moving the goalposts DURING a PNP application is disgraceful and shameful for a Government body.
