theres not a truck company anywhere in the world that can just go out and buy 10 new tractor units just becuase they've found drivers who want to drive them!
i wish all those already there the very best for the future but it was clear to anyone that at some point the buble had to burst.

Who mentioned "10 tractor units" they are replacing 25 trucks cos the old ones need replacing !

A majority of companies now get there trucks on a 3 or 4 yr lease so when the lease is up, they simply replace them with new trucks on a new lease as is probably happening at SE.
The effective economical working life for a truck is 4 yrs

Over the past few months many Truck mags have run stories and articals on the Driver sittuation or the lack of them. Many companies be it large, middle or small have gone on record stating that if they had the drivers they would and could increase their fleets,to accamodate the increase in staff as they have the work/loads.
Most companies lease their trucks, run them till the warrenty is finnished then exchange them (4years). I even heard of a company that bought/leased 150 new tractors on a 4 year contract, and knew the name of the south american company that would take them over there after:blink:

PaulB,
have you seen the posts about "Paul's Hauling" on the Manitoba Thread?
Interesting that they apparently have LMO's and can offer PNP via an imigration agent and possibly very few nights away which intrigues me the most!!:)

Thank you Andy-Shelia, this is exactly what is happening,

I at no point inferred that they now have 25 extra drivers . They are just fully staffed now.

I hope it has saved some people money, stay in good old uk

You would know there are ALOT of old women(listen up Gremmie;)) on this thread there's nothing whatsoever being posted about trucking only ALOT of idle crap!!!!

Lets have some debate for Big boys please?

Now back to Seafood Express and the written fact that 8 days away gets you an average $8.41/hour in you pocket.
Now if Loafy and Chris12 can come back to me after a few trips and tell me "Fordprefects" post was a load of bull there will honestly be nobody happier than me,because believe it or not I've had a phone conversation with Robin Roach too and the guy seems very decent and a sound bloke.:cool:The FACT that I have (only:huh:) nine months USA OTR trucking experience,
the FACT that I have a full USA class A CDL truck licence with Hazmat/doubles/triples and the fact that I can exchange it relatively easily for the Canadian trucking equivalent makes me something of a "valuable commodity" as quoted by a well know trucking company recruiter that wasn't SFE!!! (Yes I know I've said before trucking recruiters are the biggest liars know to man!!!;))

To clear another misunderstanding up the $40/hour I earned is in my full time job which is completely unrelated to trucking,
(catch yourselves on what truck driver earns $40/hour?) I run our O/D "business" in partnership with my wife who also works full time in a completely unrelated job to trucking.

Now back on track,
To the "rookie" Seafood Express drivers I'm quite aware that SFE PPM,
now answer the following:
1.Loading/unloading IE sitting on a dock, paid or gratis?
2.daily trip/pretrip, paid or gratis?
3.meat/border inspections,paid or gratis?
4.trailer brush/ wash cleanouts,paid or gratis?
5.Punctures (waiting on fitter) paid or gratis?
6.Breakdowns (waiting on fitter/sitting at workshop) paid or gratis?
7.Filling the truck/reefer with fuel,paid or gratis?
8.I see they pay for layovers, how much and for how long?
9.Do you think it will be possible without driving yourselves into an early grave to average 3000 miles/week in order to accrue a wage driving mostly around the NE of the States?
You should be looking at what your "hourly" rate is that means when you are no longer in "your own time" but in "Seafood Express" time IE when you open the door of your truck to start and when you close it to finish.(not to mention the fact you are an unpaid security guard when you park at the truckstop loaded for a sleep because your not paid any "nightout" money!!!!!:o)

P.s. ECT ECT ECT what are you talking about Gremmie, thats a model of ERF truck!!!!!!!
Just to let you know it really is ETC ETC ETC!!!!!!!!

P.p.s
Ref the quotes from Pulp fiction,
So I'm Samuel L.Jackson, happy days but the big question is who's the GIMP?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So if you spoke to Robin why didn't you ask him these Q's yourself then??,and if you did ask what did he say??

P.E.I. needs immigrants to survive economically

By ANDY WALKER Special
Sat. Oct 27 - 4:47 AM

CHARLOTTETOWN — Immigration will be one of the keys to P.E.I.’s economic success in the 21st century, maintains Development and Technology Minister Richard Brown.

Historically, Mr. Brown said, P.E.I. has lagged behind other provinces in attracting immigrants. He suggested Thursday one reason has been a lack of information about how to access a host of government and community services.

"We can do an even better job of promoting the island as a new home for immigrants," the minister said.

Sorry nothing to do with SE it was meant originally as a joke to all the negative postings by various posters refering to SE.

Anyway here is the explaination regarding the original passage:

The passage that Jules recites in the movie Pulp Fiction does not exist. The passage that he quotes Ezekial 25:17 is nowhere to be found in the bible.

Ezekial 25:17 is a passage from the Bible. In the King James Version of the Bible it reads:
“ And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them. ”

This verse was popularized by the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction. However, it is to be noted that the version of this verse used in the movie was changed for cinematic impact. Before shooting a defenseless man, Samuel L. Jackson's character Jules Winnfield gloats by orating before he shoots:
“ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. ”

Quentin Tarantino used Ezekiel 25:17 as an obscure reference to the 1976 film Karate Kiba, starring Sonny Chiba. In this film, a nearly identical misquote of the King James passage is said by Chiba.
“ The path of the righteous man and defender is beset on all sides by the iniquity of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious anger, who poison and destroy my brothers; and they shall know that I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon them!

Alot of posters here will be waiting for me the "big bad wolf" to jump in and terrorise you but as the following proves I asked a question about "Pauls Hauling" quite awhile ago on another website and didn't get much response:
http://www.onlinetruckers.co.uk/inde...ewtopic&t=5647

Can you tell me do they take UK drivers via PNP?
As another member here said recently that P.Hauling cannot get LMO's.
When you say its not as long a time away from home as first thought, what are you talking 4/5/6 days away?
Do they have much "end-dump" work as there are a few pictures on their website of tippers?
