Moving to New Zealand.
Hi everyone!!
Im currently a Truck driver in the Uk, Class 1. Im planning on moving to New Zealand around October/November time and i have a few questions.
First of all, Im thinking of moving to Auckland and driving the tankers. However, Ive never done this job before, but from what ive read on numerous forums, its the only way to get residency. So, if i take the DG test, how likely would my chances be of acquiring a tanker job for a shell/bp contractor?
In my spare time, I go cycle touring. So before i arrive in New Zealand im going to cycle from Bangkok to somewhere like Bali, which is going to cost me money obviously!! So, lets say it takes me between a month and two months to start work, how much money will i need to keep me going before i start work?
i.e. stay in backpackers, cost of food etc.
Finally, what are New Zealand trucking companies like to work for? From what ive read, the money isn't the best, but im not moving to new zealand on the sole bases of money, more a new lifestyle.
Thanks
