You need to apply for police checks for every country you and members of your family have lived in for 6 months or more since the age of 18.

Any Op Tours should be covered by the RMP one

If you were there on a 2 or 3 year tour I would think you would have to get a police certificate from the Hong Kong Police - Bummer I know but when you come to fill in your PR application they will want to know everything about you so better to have everything in place now.

This could be a starting point to look at and contact them not sure if this is the correct page or not but worth a look.

Dave
Thanks again for another top tip! As for the work thing I assume you are still in the Army? Not that I suspect you would be skiving in the British Army
Just got word back from Yanke and they claim I do not have the experience they are looking for. Came as a bit of a shock, probably as I havent explained my back ground correctly
It is their loss - I know what they have missed out on, so I will just get back on with the next Company on the list. Wish me luck:thumbup:

Aye!

I have only just started to look at driving jobs, and yes I have only really sent details to Yanke. They seemed keen but I do not think I really explained myself to well. I haven't even sent off a resume yet.
I am just feeling the water! To be honest I am really unsure of how it is best to go about it.

Think about:

Which part of Canada appeals to ALL the family - 2nd largest country in the world!!!

Where you can afford to buy & Live - West more expensive / East Cheaper but lower wages in general.

What sort of work do you want to do - Flat Bed / Tanker / Reefer etc etc

There are a million things to consider but there's your starter for 10.

Yep I'm still serving on continuence at present & I would never dream of abusing taxpayers money surfing the net & BE at work....... How dare you all....:frown:

You need a D4 medical to prove to the company that you are applying to that you are fit to do the job and worth the money that they are going to spend on you it cost the company around $1000 per person

However...is the D4 medical form recognised in canada by the Canadian DOT and also by the local licencing authority when you apply for your Canadian Licence?

Did you need another medical when you arrived in Canada and then complete the local eqivilant form when exchanging your UK Licence for the Canadian one?

So in a nut shell what I am saying is if you needed another medical when you arrived in Canada why not just get the local Canadian form emailed to you and get your Doc here in the UK to complete it hence only paying one fee??? Then when you arrive you have a completed recognised form to submit with your application for your Canadian Licence....saving some dosh.

OR is that not the case...

maybe some companies pay for it so would not be an issue.

Re: Medicals for interview

For your 1A license itself (taken off the Siemens website on successful completion of the tests):

In order to transfer your Class 1 License you will need to provide the
following:
• SK Class 1 License
• Passport/Work Permit
• Customs/Immigration Letter (we provide)
• Medical – Note: if your UK medical is over 6 months old you will
need to have another medical. The licensing office will
recommend a doctor for you.
The cost to transfer your 1A License including a medical will be
approximately $100.00 CDN

So no you wont need another medical once you have completed your D4 form as long as the test is done within 6 months.
