LGV Class 2 Cat C. Ontario equivalent?
Hi.
I have a UK LGV Class 2, Cat C licence. Have been driving for just over a year now. (Fire Engine)
Can someone confirm exactly what would this enable me to drive in Canada, more specifically Ontario?
I am confused as to whether it could be a swapped for a :
- Restricted Class A
- Full Class A
Am I correct in saying to have a full Class A, you require a (Z) endorsement?
What exactly does that entail to get that? Is there a further theory and practical test to sit or can the UK licence be 'swapped' just the same as a car driving licence?
Hope someone can help out

I think as long as you have had your car licence for at least two years Ontario will exchange it, there are no provinces in Canada that exchange your LGV licence, you will have to retake that here and also as a trucker you won't get residency in Ontario so you may want to look at other provinces to be a trucker.

I can look when im done at this Carvery for lunch. But to be honest if you have to retake it get the class one, the test here is easy compared to the UK.

How are you planning on working here ?
Are you a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent resident ?
If not are you 31 or under ?

Barring any problems with our application from now on, we (wife and kids) should have PR. (just sent medicals away to London Visa office, and paid Right of Permanent Residence Fees)

Ah, right, good luck.
If I was you, forget about Class3, just go do your Class1 & Airbrake.
You'll have more chance of getting a job.
Keep away from Training companies in Brampton/Mississauga area.
The pay for drivers is generally not good against the cost of living there, we have 3 at our company from the Toronto area and they're on about $7/hr more here in AB for doing the same job.
Have a look for jobs on Kijiji, jobank.ca, indeedjobs.com

Cheers for the replies and info
To be honest I'd just be looking for something to tide me over until I see what my options / chances are of getting back into the fire service.
I understand it might be difficult/ take time to get a full time position, so thought using my lgv would give me a few more options of employment until then. (even if its local work, rigid body stuff)
I see they (fire dept) require you to obtain a “D-Z” driver’s licence, so wondered if my UK licence transferred over.

You would have to re-take your test here, they'll swap your car licence & maybe motorbike.
Google Ontario Ministry of Transportation, looks like your Class2 equivalent is a ClassD, also tells you about how to go about it all.
