Default Hgv class 1 in the uk & Hgv in canada

Very confused.... As i already have my class 1 hgv in the uk, do i have to re-test or do i have to have an assesment, so many different awnsers, if its an assesment, is it hard? is it easy? can i call someone over there to find out? has anyone got a number i can call? so i get the facts and not a headache,
I want to come over on a temp work visa hopefully secure a job and then later on my wfe and family can join me, and then stay forever... things i need please are as follows..

1) a number to call to find out about test or assesment.
2) do i have to pay for the assesment / test or will the company pay?
3) a number of a reputable company
4) any other information you may have.
I know its a lot to ask for but i need to know a lot as there are to many variations of the infomation i need.
many thanks for taking the time to read this thread,
and again many thanks

Your Class 1 is not valid in Canada, YOU MUST re test. Also depending on which province you go to you may also have to re do the car test as well.

The company that decides to employ you will give you all the advice you need to take the test. And the test varies from Province to Province , So you need to decide whereabouts in Canada you would like to live , then find a suitable employer .
All this needs to be done before you start worrying about your Class One test.

I don't see any variation in the information, I've never seen anything about an assessment vs a test!
You have had two replies here, which tell you everything you need to know except...you will usually have to foot the bill, but an employer may front you the money, and take it from your wages.

it all depends on ur employer to who pays.
but as said before it depends on which province you take your tests in.
for example sk is written tests ( touch screen) ( just read the books that they will give you). then the practical test full pre trip then road test.
and you can keep your uk license as you can learn on ur uk till you pass then you will get another license.
your first step is deciding where in canada you would like to be. then find suitable employers in that area.
