They're a useful thing to have and most trucks have them, but like Gremmie says, a lot of drivers don't use them unless they have to, or at least can't be bothered to answer if you do try to talk to them. (maybe they don't understand the funny accent).
I'd always have one just for the entertainment. It passes the time if you're sat in traffic listening to all the other drivers bitch at each other. Also you have to remember that a CB microphone turns every truck driver into a cross between Barry White and a 6 foot 8 inch ninja.

I always had one in the UK and had loads of fun with it .... Can't be arsed with all that CB lingo though.
If it wasn't for CB radio I would not be living here ! I made a very good mate on the CB in the 80's in England who came to live in this area and I came over to visit him in 92, he moved back a few years later but the area stuck in my mind and I now live here. I have a CB here but I don't use it much except when running with a mate ... In particular one of two other English drivers in the eastern area who i can have a laugh with.
Trouble is that in the NYC and Northern NJ area there is a group of total wankers called 'CB Assholes.com' who are just that .... ASSHOLES, I have many an argument with them
