Canada Trucking relocation Info needed (maybe Siemens) Please!
Hello Everyone,
Any help greatly appreciated and a lot of free beers if I get a chance to see it through !!
I guess from historic posts this has been covered in parts, but I hoping more recent up to date information if possible.
I am very seriously looking to relocate to Edmonton (really like the look of the city), in particular applying to Siemens transportation. (same reason) Luckily I only have myself to move over,no family etc. !
- Are there any guys out there who work for them and can advice on what they are like to work for? I'm obviously flexible but most like the idea of flat decks.
- does anyone recommend other companies they have had/ work for?
- I understand that minimum wage expectations is $50,000 gross per year, which after taxes etc. I figure to be about $27,000 net take home, is this realistic?
- I have looked at small apartments to rent, most offer inclusive heat/ water in rent ($900 per month) how much should I factor to pay electric per month and also council/ property tax? Trying to figure realistic disposable income
- I've heard car insurance is dear, what would an average cheap old car cost, and also do you pay road tax equivalent? (e.g say probably compare £300 insurance per year equivalent in UK) heard horrors of $1300 somewhere!
Well better stop here for now, as I don't want to publish a book ! (or put people off from replying !!
Thank you for looking and for any help or advice.

There is a company in (Loblaws ) Regina SK wanting drivers , No long haul and home most days and they are saying the SNIP have said you can apply for PR , even though its not long haul , Its supermarket work and a Brit thats doing the recruiting , or at least advertising for the company . I'm not allowed to post links to another forum , But do a search for BTA

Thank you for the reply.
I agree sounds great, and I have sent him a message.

I appreciate your information,
It's all sounding good and reasonable A good choice in trucks btw, I like the idea of running a (maybe old initially!) Dodge or Jeep.
Compared to a Japanese equivalents, they say "there ain't no replacement for displacement" proper American Iron.
However,as I run a Series Land rover over here, maybe I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment !
Cheers
