Default Calgary commercial driver training

Hello,

I'm looking for some recommendations on where to do my class 1, I live in Okotoks and I have my PR.

Also, do companies look for people who just want part time work?

Thanks

Dave.

Thanks for the quick replies do you know roughly how much I'm looking at paying to do the course.

What are peoples experiences with getting work if you don't have any experience?

Thanks

Dave.

Cost me about $2K five years ago , Best to call and get a price .

Some firms dont mind guys with no experience , Others will want at least two years .

It will be harder to find a job , But not impossible .

The High River Driving School is busy all the time, I live right behind it but no idea what their pass-rate is but I should think it'll be a damn sight easier taking/passing a test here rather than in Calgary.
When you say no experience, do you mean in Canada or no experience anywhere ?
If you've got 2+ years UK, there shouldn't be a problem but having zero experience will not be easy, a big percentage on kijiji want 2 years minimum and looking at most that don't, they are the bottom of the barrel and can't get anyone else.
Give those 2 schools a call, see what they charge (including airbrake then decide from there), also, unless money's no object, hotel costs are much cheaper in High River.
Good luck, whatever you decide.

Neilg14,

I don't have any UK experience, I was thinking that the High River one might be a better option as I live in Okotoks, but will depend if they charge a lot more than the ones in Calgary.

Sorry GeDe, completely missed the bit about you living in Okotoks & PR.
I've just finished nightshift.
They may want to give you a driving assessment before giving you a price.
The one I used, I think charged a daily rate, but give them a call and ask.
