Advice please!!

Hi all, ok so i joined a couple of days ago and im looking for help and advice to get some trucking work in Canada.

My name is John Stone im 35 and ex Army, i joined the Army in 1994 and served 4 years in the Royal Logistic Core as a driver, i gained my HGV 1 and 2 licences in 1995 and all is clean!!
I did have my Hazmat licence too but that ran out in 2000 :( i have worked mainly as a "trucker" since leaving the Army, in pretty much every type of haulage roles, including low loaders, and left hand drive vehicles. One company i worked for had a client that had a fleet of North American trucks, i think they were Peterbilt ? (spelling!) so i got to drive those alot too!

Anyway as i said in the other parts of the forum, i am looking to get out there working asap, it will just be me, no dependants etc, apparently a TWP would do me for starters.
So if there are any truckers on here that could help me out in anyway or offer advice id be very gratefull. I heard they may be alot of work for truckers in The FT Mcmurray area? but as i said yesterday im not really fussed about the area to work in, but theres good money up there right?! so whats the best way for me to find out about potential employers over there, and also need some advice on how long it takes to get there and working, and the first steps i should take?

Thanks again, spk later! John.:fingerscrossed:

:confused::confused:

Please can anyone offer me advice on trucking jobs in the FT MCMURRAY area for English guys like myself?? any numbers or company names would be helpfull! It is a seemingly impossible task trying to find any info over here! :frown: millions of web pages with the same info and no employers or any info as to where to begin!!

As i said i am ex Army and have 16 years experience driving trucks, there must be someone willing to hire me!! apparently truckers from around the globe are in demand in FT MCMURRAY??
Any info or a point in the right direction would help, thanks.

I would look elsewhere , FT Mac is expensive and I doubt there are any jobs with LMO's up there.

If you are coming over without family look at the usual companies ie

H&R, Bison , Big Freight , Westcan etc

All depends which province you want to live in really , if you want to get PR quick avoid Alberta . ;) also BC and Ontario .

Their are plenty of threads on here with plenty of links to trucking companies all over Canada. The fixation you have on Ft Mac is based on what ?? yes its an oil boom town and thats it. Expensive beyond reason yes, violent yes , working weeks on end with no days off, nice NO, what you earn will get gobbled up in the cost of living up there. If you are serious about immigrating to Canada we will gladly help , but if you just want to make a quick buck and run, well sorry I dont have much time for such people. Your call Mr ex army.

!!! Just want to earn some good money and i heard that work in and around the oil fields is plentyfull and well paid thats all, and who said anything about 'earning a quick buck and runnining' ? Thought this might be the right forum for advice, but as you dont have time for such people as myself then clearly not!!

As i said England has gone down the pan, and there are about 100 blokes chasing every job, so i just want a change and a chance to earn some 'proper' money wherever that may be as i said in another part of this forum, and yes im looking to live there in the long run.
Thanks mr gremmie 'i thought you may be able to help' guy.

"Earning the quick buck" comes from all your posts, as Ive highlighted, you are only interested in money and nothing else. I can and do help many but not the " get rich quick " merchants like you:p:p

Maybe start at the beginning like everyone else by getting your Class 1 Canadian licence, getting some North American experience and then if you survive that someone in Ft mac may consider you.:thumbup:
