Yep some happy memories of that place and Vermont is a very pleasant State anyway.

I used to spend weekends by the lake with my girl friend. The only spoiler was the empty Molson and LaBatte beer cans left on the beach by the French-Canadian visitors

I'd recommend getting your citizenship as soon as you become eligible for it, but I heard of a local man (a doctor) who was returning here from Iran, with a US Passport, who was detained at O'Hare.

But doesn't your passport show your country/place of birth?
Obviously US citizens have a right to enter the USA but doesn't mean you will just be waved through.

It shows your place of birth but that becomes irrelevant when you are granted citizenship. If there were any issues, they should have been dealt with before it was granted, not afterwards.

The fact that the source of the 9/11 attackers, Saudi Arabia, wasn't on this list exposes it for the bullshit propaganda, posturing and excuse for profiling that it is.

A Kiwi mate got detained at the airport and told off for being a dual US citizen and that this will be a "warning", whatever that meant...but a few hours were wasted being questioned for reason of trip.

Just when I was planing on getting citizenship, I dont want it, dont want to be a citizen under this administration. Pragmatism might win out but not in the emotional mind frame right now to consider it.

This is a bit concerning. I wonder if this what the 1930s in Europe felt like. There is a lot of bad feelings on both sides. I hope the tension doesn't escalate too much.

Out of interest, how did they know? Presumably s/he used their US passport to enter the US - were they questioned about citizenship status, or was it because they used the NZ passport at the other end?
