What does it even mean to say that a 1 year old has a shotgun and a rifle? It strikes me as meangless words for any literal interpretation, more of an example of the Governor trying to get herself further over the purity line for the right on guns. That line now seems to have been moved to giving 1 year olds not just a shotgun, but a rifle too. Although the reaction from the audience, the groans, for want of a better word, the few seconds before applause is heard, suggests she may be pushing that line, for others to follow and keep up with.

What struck me when I was looking up age requirements was that it was all about buying a gun whereas ownership of rifles and shotguns had no age level. In some states.

I couldn't help but think of other countries where it's illegal not just to buy but also to provide, say, a cigarette or alcohol for someone underage.

What sense is there in preventing someone from buying a gun because they are too young but it's okay for them to have one?

Shouldn't child protection people get involved if the child has a gun. Danger to themselves and others at the very least. A child of two wouldn't be able to handle a gun safely, if at all.
