WTF in America

The manufacturer of the weapon used in the Uvalde school shooting, Daniel Defense, is a big donor to Republican political candidates. The Daniel family, company owners, are big Republican donors too, in their private capacity. This interesting article in the Washington Post (it is fairly short,) also makes the point that NRA and gun manufacturers used to give money to Democrats and Republicans. Now, just republicans. Presumably a sign of the political polarization.
Daniel Defense has had advertising featuring children and guns. Coincidentally, all such advertising disappeared the day of the shooting.
Any chance of suing this company and putting them out of business? If I remember correctly, gun manufacturers are generally protected from being made responsible for deaths caused by their products, but an exception was made in one case where a manufacturer’s marketing strategy was aimed at children.

The Sandy Hook families finally managed to get to Remington. Herewith a New Yorker article from February:

Apparently, their weapons were also involved in that really big Las Vegas mass shooting a few years ago. These companies should be made to pay. Same deal as the tobacco companies.

Re: WTF in America
In fact - even before the manufacturer is sued, perhaps they could be encouraged to distribute the $1,800 that Mr. Ramos paid them for the gun, to the victims. They should give $40 or so to each of the victims families. Whatever their eventual legal liability, it’s a bit rich that they get $1,800 just so an eighteen year old can go on a killing spree!

Re: WTF in America
The photo was taken at the Nephi City shooting range in Utah (according to this article https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...-ar-15-n831171 ), that doesn't explain what the symbol is but it might be a place to start tracking it down.

Apparently mountain monograms are a thing in Utah..

(small characters to the left of the J probably refer to a graduating class, because I’ve seen photos with “15” and “20.”)

(EDIT TO ADD - I wrote this response this morning but didn't post it until I returned home this evening; I now see lots of similar responses ...)
What's the context for the original photo? Typically, in many US towns, the local high-school will put such a marker on a visible hill in town. So if you know where the picture was taken, I would look into what the local school name is.
