WTF in America

Re: WTF in America
According to my guy who does post-production editing, it's cheaper and easier to use a real gun firing blanks or a blank-firing gun in a scene than to use CGI to add a gun and the effects in post-production, unless the movie is already using CGI on a larger scale within the same movie.

What magic are you using to get your old cell phones to act as displays? I just googled and read about 'space desk', which let's you use your old phones as monitors over wifi. Is that what you are using (or something similar)? Reading about it, what I like is that you can also load the free software on old laptops and use the laptop screen as a second monitor also. I once had a need for that ... . I'd love to be able to get higher bandwidth over USB or similar, but that may be asking too much.

The two phones are new, bought from pay as you go providers at a good price as they expect to get money through phone minutes. On sale I got one for $20, the other for $25.
I got the first for use with racing simulators, I got the second to use as a wireless camera for teaching over Zoom (to show hard copy docs, white boards etc), but we are back in person so it's always free for gaming too.
I use a couple of apps specifically designed to work with racing simulator APIs.
The main one is Simhub, there are a few similar apps, like Sim Dashboard.

Most racing simulators provide an API to access data for all sorts of uses, lights, haptic, and telemetry. So only small amount of data needs to be sent, less than video would be.

Did the rescue network not have a way to reach out to friends or family of the lost man, so one of them could call him, and tell him to pick up the call from the unknown number?
