So Mrs P, little Miss P, and I are in Olive Garden, grabbing a bit to eat while the tyre garage just up the road repairs the puncture in one of our Accord's tyres, and the waitress comes to the table to take our drink order. I had noticed that the menu listed domestic, premium and import beers, then the last subheading said "Regional Beers: ask for details". ..... So I asked for details.

The waitress first said she did not know, then um'ed and er'ed for several seconds before exclaiming"Oh, yes! I know! ..... It's Bud Light!" (Where's the "exploding head smilie" when you need it? ) So I replied to her "No, it's not, ..... I'm not even sure that Bud Light is beer." So that is the WTF moment then, because surely there's no more to this tale? Wrong! ..... . And she said "What is a regional beer?"

Arrggghhh! WTF! Just shoot me!

You have to give her credit that at least she recognised what she's missing/doesn't understand and had the guts to ask. The dumber ones don't even realize that they don't get it.
I've had my share of dumb today on the NJ health exchange telephone line so no grins here...

Yesterday I had an appointment at a US hospital about 1 mile from the border. Last week I had to hand over my NJ driving licence and was given a temporary Ontario DL...which means I do not have a photo ID driving licence.

Sure enough when I booked into the hospital I was asked for my driving licence as a form of photo ID. 'I do not have a driving licence but here is my US passport'. The lady looked very confused...didn't take the PP...then said 'Oh nevermind'.

Like all the times I would provide my green card when I was asked for ID. In all those times, only two people ever asked what the card was!

'American Girl' dolls.

Creeped me out being near their store today.

Surely girls of 10/11/12 shouldn't be walking around holding dolls?

And the girls all looked the same too.

<<<@!1!@>>>

Surely you know that they are for young girls and doll collectors. In some parts of the USA 10, 11, 12 years old children are still that, 10-12 year old children.

My 9 year old grand-daughter has 3 American Girl dolls - two were gifts (I bought one for her) and one she won at a charity raffle (or rather her mum won it for her). She also has a lot of the accessories. She loves them and loves playing with them, dressing them, putting them to bed, etc. It makes it easy for me for I always know what to buy her for birthdays, Christmas (AG accessories). She is a child - and I hope that she will continue to play with her dolls for another few years. Too many girls her age start to dress and act like teenagers - she doesn't and I am thankful for that!

My children played with them too, years ago. I always thought they provided a more benign & childlike image than Barbies or some of the other "dolls"... like the Brat dolls....
